 In this classroom students will be taught the skills needed to feel comfortable in the modern workplace where computers and office machines are used. Each student will progress at their own pace and work is individualized to meet any special needs.  Coursework includes operation of current software programs in the area of spreadsheets, database data entry, graphic programs, photo and video editing and other computer areas as they emerge along with instruction on various office machines. A familiarity with some word processing applications will also be covered. Students will be encouraged to incorporate problem solving techniques with team building in the completion of special projects and outside job work.

CLASSROOM/SAFETY RULES

·         ALL PERSONAL BELONGINGS MUST BE KEPT IN ASSIGNED LOCKER

·         FOLLOW DIRECTIONS KEEP QUIET, LISTEN

·         ALWAYS KEEP YOUR HANDS TO YOUR SELF

·         WEAR CLEAN AND APPROPRIATE CLOTHING (See student handbook)

·         NO LOW RIDING PANTS ALLOWED

·         NO "HOODIES" ALLOWED

·         NO COATS ALLOWED IN CLASSROOM

·         DO NOT TALK ABOUT PERSONAL BUSINESS DURING WORK TIME

·         MUST HAVE A HALL PASS, SIGNED BY CLASSROOM STAFF, WHEN LEAVING THE ROOM

·         KEYS ARE NOT TO BE WORN AROUND THE NECK BUT CAN BE PLACED IN THE STUDENTS POCKET (Wallet chain are not permitted in the school)

·         EATING OR DRINKING IN THE CLASSROOM IS NOT PERMITTED (Except from the drinking fountain)

·         NO GUM CHEWING ALLOWED IN THE CLASSROOM

 

The student will:

1.       Dress and groom consistent with requirements of vocational area

v     Wear clean and appropriate clothing (see student handbook)

v     No low riding pants allowed

v     No "hoodies" allowed.

v     No coats allowed in classroom.

v     Keys are not to be worn around the neck but can be placed in the students pocket (wallet chain are not permitted in the school)

2.       Follow classroom check-in procedure

v     All personal belongings must be kept in assigned locker

v     Clock in on the computer

v     Put on ID Bade

v     Check Job Board

v     Begin work assignment (Typing Tutor then assigned job)

3.       Identify & relate use of supplies, tools & equipment

v     Computer Components

v     Office Machinery

v     Office Supplies

4.       Gather supplies, tools & equipment for an assigned job

v     Obtain supplies as needed

v     Go to the appropriate machine

5.       Use tools & equipment in a safe manner

v     Use Computers and Office Machinery as instructed

v     Use supplies as instructed

v     Keep hands away from hot elements of the Machinery

v     Keys or necklaces are not to be worn around neck

6.    Clean & properly store supplies, tools & equipment.

v     Store supplies in designated areas

v     Log off  computers before leaving

7.       Read & comprehend signs commonly found in work environments

v     Exit

v     Printer

8.       Identify general requirements of a workplace

v     Use break time appropriately

v     Stay on Task

v     No eating or drinking at work site

v     No gum chewing in the classroom

v     Navigate work environment safely

9.       Identify occupational options related to vocational area

v     Data entry operator

v     Personal computer operator

v     Word processing specialist

v     Office support assistant

10. Perform skills related to the specific vocational classroom.
