In Business Practices, students develop the skills necessary to work in an office or retail environment.  Students are required to work individually and as part of a team in order to complete assignments.  In addition, they learn to operate various equipment which enables them to copy, type, sort, staple, paperclip, punch, shred, collate, hang, fold, and label materials.

CLASSROOM/SAFETY RULES

·         KEEP PERSONAL BELONGINGS IN ASSIGNED LOCKER

·         KEEP QUIET, LISTEN AND FOLLOW DIRECTIONS

·         KEEP YOUR HANDS TO YOURSELF

·         WEAR CLEAN AND APPROPRIATE CLOTHING (See student handbook)

·         NO LOW RIDING PANTS ALLOWED

·         NO "HOODIES" ALLOWED

·         NO COATS OR HATS ALLOWED IN CLASSROOM

·         KEEP TALK LIMITED TO WORK CONCERNS

·         MUST HAVE A HALL PASS, SIGNED BY CLASSROOM STAFF, WHEN LEAVING THE ROOM

·         KEYS ARE NOT TO BE WORN AROUND THE NECK BUT CAN BE PLACED IN THE STUDENTS POCKET (Wallet chain are not permitted in the school)

·         DO NOT EAT OR DRINK IN THE CLASSROOM

·         DO NOT CHEW GUM IN THE CLASSROOM


Vocational Skills List

Business Practices

 

The student will:

1.                  Dress and groom consistent with requirements of vocational area

·        Wear clean and appropriate clothing (see student handbook)

·        No “Hoodies” allowed.

·        No coats or hats in classroom

·        Keys are not to be worn around the neck but can be placed in the student’s pocket (wallet chains are not permitted in school)

·        Hair is to be worn away from face

2.                  Follow classroom check-in procedure

·        All personal belongings must be kept in assigned locker

·        Put on ID Badge

·        Check Job Board

·        Begin Work Assignment

3.                  Identify & relate use of supplies, tools, & equipment

·        Computer Components

·        Office Equipment

·        Office Supplies

4.                  Gather supplies, tools, & equipment for an assigned job

·        Obtain supplies as needed

·        Organize Work station

5.                  Use tools & equipment in a safe manner

·        Use Computers and equipment as instructed

·        Use supplies and tools as instructed

·        Keys or necklaces are not to be worn around neck

·        Hair should not dangle close to machinery

6.                  Clean and properly store supplies, tools, & equipment

·        Store supplies in designated areas

·        Log off computers before leaving

·        Sweep floor and dispose of trash

7.                  Read & comprehend signs commonly found in work environments

·        Exit

·        Printer

·        Emergency Backpack

8.                  Identify general requirements of a workplace

·        Use break time appropriately

·        Stay on task

·        No eating or drinking at work site

·        No gun chewing in the classroom

·        Navigate work environment safely

9.                  Identify occupational options related to vocational area

·        Data entry operator

·        File clerk

·        Receptionist

·        Supply clerk

10.              Perform skills related to the specific vocational classroom

·        Fill supply orders

·        Distribute Flyers

·        Sort mail

·        Word processing

·        Deliver supplies

·        Stamp label/envelopes
